Meet Janice Kinjo

Janice Kinjo has established herself as a talented and creative makeup artist and groomer. Janice is regularly called upon by celebrities for magazine covers and features, advertisements, music videos, fashion, press and red carpets. Her attention to detail draws forth and enhances specific parts of the face, especially the eyes. Her work is often described as clean and beautiful.

Janice was born in Orange County, California. Janice was born into the Buddhist practice and credits this integral part of her life in helping shape and nurture her artistic confidence.

She would later receive a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from a university in Los Angeles, California. While a student, she worked in theatre and on student films. After graduation, she moved to New York and worked her way through the industry. Currently, she is a bi-coastal makeup artist and men’s groomer, and she continues to perfect her artistry and strives for success.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I am a celebrity makeup artist and men’s groomer. I am Japanese and grew up obsessed with all things beauty. My parents were against me wearing any makeup, so I would sneak-wear it once I got to school. Their opposition to me wearing makeup made me even more captivated by it. Once I graduated college, I sought out to establish a professional career in makeup and here we are 17 years later. I love what I do even all these years later.

What kind of look do you usually love to rock?

Personally, I am low maintenance. I draw a thin cat eye liner with heavy mascara and fill in my brows. My hair is very long, so I pull it back into a pony to keep it all out of my way while working on my clients.

What’s your self-care routine?

I am a Buddhist and I chant morning and evening. This helps me to center my life and prepare for each day. It feels like a spiritual shower and it’s refreshing for me. In the mornings when I notice my eyes are red, I put a drop of LUMIFY into each eye to reduce the redness – it lasts for up to 8 hours, which is great for long days at work. I cleanse my face and follow with serums and different skincare acids to balance my skin. Lastly, I heavily moisturize as I have very dry skin.

At some point in my day, I like to work out for about 45 minutes. This really helps me to keep my energy and stamina up for my crazy work and travel schedules.

What was your reaction the first time you used LUMIFY redness reliever eye drops?

Impressed! I couldn’t believe how quickly it worked and how long it lasted – truly up to 8 hours. Before I knew about LUMIFY, when I’d be on set working with clients and their eyes became red again midday (after applying redness reducing eye drops in the morning), I’d find they needed to reapply eye drops and that would mess up their makeup.
